What is a Life Group?

The church is not a place, a name, a building, or a program. The church is people. Life Groups are simply groups of people committed to live the way of Jesus together. In the early church, Jesus’ disciples met intentionally from home to home, reading Scripture, breaking break, praying together, and celebrating life in Jesus. Together, they gave themselves fully to Jesus and His coming Kingdom. 2000 years later, we are committing ourselves to the same thing. For us, it’s all about everyday people living out Kingdom life together, in living rooms, coffee shops, dorm rooms, and wherever people can gather. Ultimately, our desire is that Life Groups become a way of life. Until then, we’ll call them groups.

Our Life Group mission is simple: we love, we make disciples. More than just connecting deeper, we encourage and expect our Life Groups to embrace God’s mission to love people where they are and disciple people into who they are. Get in community. Take a risk. Love and make disciples. Live on mission. Make it your life.

Where do I start?

If you’re new to the Stirring, this is a good place to start. For those who feel the desire to become a disciple and take more seriously this new life in Jesus, you may want to jump into our Immerse Training Class, offered in the Fall. Immersing people in the Story of Scripture, the Family of God, the Mission of Jesus and the Power of the Holy Spirit, this training group could be a great way to begin your journey. For more information on Immerse, click here. We also offer many other groups throughout the year which can be found below.

For those of you who feel ready to begin a Life Group with a group of friends, go for it. Begin meeting weekly, eat a meal together, read Scripture, discuss the weekly Stirring message, share stories, celebrate what Jesus is doing in your lives, and pray together. Be intentional, keep it simple and wrap it all around Jesus.

We also offer a gathering called Stirring Life, where you will meet our leadership team and learn more about our vision. If you’re interested
in leading a Life Group this coming spring, please contact Amy Metz at amy@thestirring.org.

Serve on Campus

As well as getting connected in the community during the week, we are also looking for volunteers to help us out on Sundays. This is a great way to meet new people, get connected, and serve the mission and vision of The Stirring. If this is something you would like to do, please check out our Serve on Campus page.
