In January 2007, we planted the Stirring Church with a vision to reach young families and young adults in our city. Since then, we have seen so many lives changed for God.
Countless families and young adults have begun following Jesus, over 120 new followers have been baptized, 75 different life groups have launched, more than 50 young leaders have been trained to make disciples, and we've recently launched a Jr. High movement. With nearly 400 people of all ages attending our weekly gatherings this summer, we are humbled that God has given us a significant voice with this generation.
This coming fall, we believe God is calling to send a team from the Stirring to plant a Sunday morning church in a new location across town. From the day we planted the Stirring less than two years ago, we knew God was shaping us to become a church planting movement. We have a deep passion to equip leaders who have a passion to plant new churches.
We realize there are over 20,000 young families in our city, many who do not yet know Jesus. God is calling us to pursue them. And we are convinced that training leaders and planting new churches is the most effective way to reach people for Jesus.
On August 9th, we are hosting our Hackfest 2008 Golf Marathon. Thirty of us have committed to risk total exhaustion and sunstroke on the golf course to help raise money to plant this new Stirring Church in our community. Please consider sponsoring us as we chase, hack, putt and beat 100 little white balls from dawn till dusk. Our personal goal is to raise $1000 each, which is $10 per hole, and we have already sponsored ourselves the first $1 per hole. Please consider matching our pledge of $1 per hole or even sponsoring us for more.
Our goal is to raise $40,000 for this church plant. All proceeds will go directly to church planting costs such as staff, chairs, a screen, a projector, road signs, a sound system and other expenditures.
