We’re so glad you are interested in leading or hosting a Life Group at The Stirring! Stirring Life Groups are held typically in the evening, once a week. The Life Group “season” coincides with the school year - approximately a dozen weeks in the fall, a break over the holidays, and then we gather again for another twelve weeks in the Spring, and once again break during the Summer. Many groups have celebrations together over the holidays and fun in the sun of summer. Some groups end in nine months, but many groups go deep in friendship and continue year after year. Often, the Life Group leader will host the Life Group in their home, but it’s also common for someone in the group to become the host in their home. And some groups rotate between homes.

You should invite people you know into your Life Group, and we will also use an online platform as a way for new people to join Life Groups that have room. We ask that you are willing to respond to any inquiries you may receive about your group in a timely manner.

Life groups are meant to foster true community and deep connection. Most groups will have twelve to fifteen people. You will need to be able to host that many people in the home you meet in. You also need to be prepared to pray, lead and guide your group through the evening. Life Group leaders are the actual group hosts and the “shepherd” of the group. Of course, you’ll be able to share your leadership. In fact, we’ll train you to raise up assistant leaders in your group. Here’s some good news- you aren’t alone in this. The Stirring team has resources to equip Life Group leaders with content for your gatherings, conversation starter ideas, and questions to answer together.

Our Life Groups are built on four foundational pillars right out of Acts 2:42- “And they devoted themselves to the apostle’s teaching, fellowship, to the breaking of bread and prayer.” So we celebrate the Word, Community, Worship and Prayer every time we meet. That passage ends with life transformation and many being saved! That’s the fruit we want to see from our groups! LIFE!! One of our end goals is to cultivate a culture of multiplying disciple-makers throughout the Stirring family.

So a typical Life Group evening would look like this- we’d recommend having some type of food or snack available for everyone. The first or last thirty minutes needs to be social. We want people to get to know each another and build relationships and connection. The leader invites the group to come together for a time of discussion. This would be about the previous week’s sermon or a book or Bible study. You’ll also spend some in worship and praying together. Every group will look different, but we want all of our Life Groups to be growing in these areas!
